Welcome to my first post on my brand new Fotomerchant website.
I must tell you the story how this all came about and why I chose Fotomerchant.
They say that things happen for a reason. So let me paint the picture. January 2015 I decided that it was time I revamp my website. It looked tired and uninspired. Not to mention that it was not in keeping with today's growing demand of responsive websites that needed to be viewed on all devices including mobile phones. I had two sites that needed an overhaul, my personal site and my company site xsight.com.au.
I was invited to judge and do some presentations at WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) in Las Vegas as part of their conference, which also hosts one of the largest Expos of all things photography. The plan was to go shopping, and find a web developer with the right fit for me. I needed my site to be simple and easy to maintain, more importantly I needed someone that speaks English, not some geek computer talk that I don’t really want to know. Does it do X, yes, does it do Y, yes! How it's done, I don’t really care :-)
One week out from the convention I get a message via facebook from Derek Clapham from Fotomerchant, "... Hey Nick I am coming to Vegas, love to catch up for a coffee and show you what's new with Fotomerchant and our web sites ...". Like I said things happen for a reason, and I thought to myself, how did he know I was in the market for a brand new web site?
So we organised a meeting at one of the Starbucks at MGM Grand. I thought to myself at the time that he probably wants a break from the Expo. Little did I know that he wasn’t there for the Expo and didn’t actually have a booth. So we sat down and went through all the themes and features that Fotomerchant can provide. The meeting was laid back, informative and professional at the same time. All my questions regarding my ultimate wish list was answered with, a yes we can and yes it's possible. I was particularly excited by Fotomerchant because of the power of their e-commerce tools and the beautiful mobile responsive websites they have.
So began my new love affair with the team at Fotomerchant. When I say team, I mean team. Everyone who I dealt with has been so accommodating and thorough. I have only touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the features and I look forward to sharing those features in months to come, but for now thanks guys. Thank you for putting up with me throughout the journey thus far.
How funny it is that two Australians decide to do business while visiting the US. Dare I say, that even if we tried to get together in our own back yard it wouldn’t have been possible :-)
